Route Notes Jean-Noel Urban Dhaulagiri Expedition - 15 Oct 2007 After pitching C1 at 5800m on 21 September, they went down to BC on 22nd, but back up to C1 on the 24th. A big storm blew up on the 25th with wind and snow. They stayed in camp that day but on the 26th descended to BC in the storm; when they traversed under the rocks, there was serious danger of a large snow avalanche. During the next days there was heavy snowfall, but 3 October there was "beautiful weather" and they returned to C1. The next day they tried to go up to C2, but at 6200m they found the snow was very deep and unstable, so back to C2. On the 5th they remained in C1 hoping to go up again, but there was more snowfall. On the 6th they tried to go down to BC, but there was dense fog and with crevasses full of snow, they stopped at 5000m because it was too dangerous to continue to go down. They left some of their gear at 5000m so they could go back to C1 with light loads. They were finally able to descend safely to BC on the 8th. There was now a lot of snow on the mountain at high altitudes; it would be too dangerous for days to try to go up again. They abandoned the climb on the 8th.
