Route Notes Dhaulagiri 2007 C.M. Ejea Expedition On 13 May three members of Spanish expedition and Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Austrian from another expedition, were at C2 waiting for the storm to subside to go to C3. Sagaste and Valencia were in one tent and Serrano was in another tent. There was a heavy snowfall previous day. Around 9 am an avalanche buried the tent in which Sagaste and Valencia were sleeping. Serrano heard Gerlinde calling him and she came to his tent. Both went to see the tent of Sagaste and Valencia which was buried in snow about 2m down. Then they started shoveling out the snow for may be about 40 minutes then they saw Valancia's arm and of Sagaste. It was not possible for two persons to remove maybe more than 500 kg of snow and ice to bring out the bodies. Another problem was the place where they dug it filled up by top snow and it could not be stopped. Then Serrano and Gerlinde decided to leave the place. On the way down to BC they met Parker coming up. There were many avalanches on that day. All the way down to BC there was lots of snow, some places more than a meter deep. Gaspar and Royo went up to C2 on 2 May, descended to BC same day due to stomach problem of Gaspar and Royo suffering from headache. Sanchez went up to C3 on 3 May due to bad weather went down to BC. The team returned to Kathmandu on 17 May and will leave on 25 May.
