Route Notes BC at same site as Kazakhstani's camp. Eross left C3 for top 9:00 pm 26 May and on top 11:30 am 27 May and slept in C3, 28th BC. Email from Laszlo Mecs - 21 June 2006 1. Our members and the first transport of our equipment reached BC on the 5th, the 2nd transport on the 7th of May. 2. Camp 1: 5800m, 8th of May Camp 2A: 6350m, 13 of May Camp 2B: 6650m, 17 of May Camp 3: 7300m, 17 of May (the team did not move together all the time). 3. Mr. Eross reached the top on the 27th of May, at 11:21 am (he started from C3 at 9 pm). 4. At first he tried to traverse the snowfield, but because of the bad snow conditions he decided to climb up straight to the ridge and continue to the summit. 5. Mr. Szabolcs Szendro (just celebrated his 60th birthday) suffered from more problems: first of all, one of his legs was amputated under the knee (when he was 16) and during our 9 days walk to BC the friction of the artificial leg hurt the skin of his leg. Later he had other problems like serious back pain, etc. He reached camp 2A (6350m) on the 18th. We four reached camp 2B (6650m) on the 25th of May, around 10 am. Because of the heavy sunshine, bad snow conditions and not to waste more time of the perfect weather suddenly we created a new, daring plan. We put up our tents there (tents of our Camp 2B and Camp 3 were taken to Camp 1 on the 18th of May), having rested during the day and after sunset try to go directly for the summit. Mr Babscan found it too risky and decided to turn back next day. Mr. Eross, Miss Ugyan and me left the tents at 11 pm with light rucksacks; no tents, no sleeping bag, no stove. We had to break new trail so it took 8 hours for us to reach [where] Camp 3. It was 7 pm, the sun started to melt the snow so it seemed impossible to reach the summit that day. Because we had no tent, no sleeping bag and no stove (it was the main problem) Miss Ugyan and me decided to turn back. Mr Eross spend the day in C3 and started his summit bid at 9 pm.
