Route Notes Team and Pem Tenji and Da Chhemba Sherpa left C3 at 12:45 am on 18 May. Staartjes and Wesselius went ahead and when they got to 7600m, they noticed that their Sherpas were about one hour behind. The wind had also picked up. When they got to the point where the ridge becomes knife-edged, the snow was very soft and loose (about 7500m). They carried on for another 100m and decided they should fix a rope. However, the rope was with the Sherpas and they had not arrived. After about 10 minutes they decided to descend as conditions were dangerous without a rope and they did not want to wait for Sherpas. They met the ascending Sherpas at about 7400m at 4:30 am and they descended together. They descended to C1 the same day, after dismantling the tents at C3 and C2. They arrived at 2 pm. There was a huge thunderstorm and it was snowing on 19 May. They descended to BC. They left BC on 23 May as they had to wait for porters. They walked out to Dharbang, where they arrived on 26 May.
