Route Notes Changtse (7553m) Iwa To Yuki '84 annual The mountain is facing Qomolongma with its N Col in between. A W German party from Obersdorf made the first ascent in the autumn of 1982, it was a 10-member party, led by Eduard Geyer, mayor of the city. BC (5100m) was made on Rongbuk Glacier and C1 (5600m) on Oct 2, and C2 (6100m), on 4th week made. The route was taken on E Ridge, gentle but 4 km of length. C3 (6400m) and C4 (6900m) were made, and Udo Zehetleiner got the top on Oct 14, Paul Braun, Rudolf Frick, Ludwig Hosle and Martin Engler also reached the top on 16th. Changtse (7553m) This peak divides the Rongbuk Glaciers and faces Everest across the North Col. A West German party led by Eduard Geyer, mayor of the town, climbed the peak in 1982 by its East Ridge. From base at 5100m on the Rongbuk Glacier they set up 4 camps, Udo Zehertleitner reached the top on Oct 14, and Paul Braun, Rudolf Frick, Ludwig Hosle and Martin Engler on the 16th. Anders Bolinder - 12 Mar 85 In a letter to EAH, Anders Bolinder states that the leader Tauscher admitted to Bolinder that the team only reached the Eastern summit, not the main summit. But, more recently, the NE Summit is now considered the highest of the two summits.
