Route Notes Kim Ki-Sup, (Manaslu Spr 1971) - 13 Feb 71 It was definitely possible to reach Churen East Peak from last camp in 1970; took 16 hours from camp to summit. Japanese who doubted Koreans claim would not meet Kim's brother when he was in Japan. Brother is ready to go to summit with Japan, who probably cannot reach it himself so thinks others also cannot. 29 April summit East Peak. 1 May from C6 to West Peak: Kim Ho-Sup and Sherpa in bad condition, weather very good; at 7000m Kim slipped 10m and felt something broken in chest and completely tired and return to C6. Then on 2nd May team returned to base. Kim and leader yesterday afternoon to KTM and rest today on leader fall 30 April in camp to C4. On 29th the summiters so late, leader went to look for summiters and fell slightly and next day left side painful and left arm visable; carried by Sherpas to base from C1 but now better though X-rays indicated. Shah, MFA - 28 April 70 Korean expedition to Churen reports advance party established C3 on 20th April; no altitude given. Shah, MFA - 13 April Arrived Beni 12 April, plan to establish base camp on 19 April. Shah, MFA - 7 April Left Pokhara at 8:00 am this morning with 40 porters.
