Route Notes To top direct from 7000m C2 with Warner and Johnson with no oxygen and no Sherpas. Left C2 11:30 pm 26th and on top 8:00 am. No tracks on summit and back to ABC to sleep same day. No tracks means Koreans, Japanese, their Sherpas and McGuinness (independent climber) did not get all the way to very top. McGuinness tracks stopped about 80 linear meters short and all others 180 linear meters short - only few meters difference in altitude. McGuinness agreed he did not actually summit and was trying again. Their having broken trail on 26th made success of Kenny, and Johnson possible. Kenny was last minute addition to Todd's team. Russell Brice - 2 Oct 99 Only quibbling to say McGuinness, Koreans and Japanese did not reach top - all really flat and all same altitude. Brice confirms that Kenny joined Todd's team at last minute and did summit on 27 Sept.
