| Route Notes | BC at Chinese Base Camp. On April 21st Bach, Gauthier and Robinson left from C2 3:30 am via Carsolio route (up gullies to the right) and turned back at 8000m due to exhaustion. They used no oxygen and no Sherpas. They returned to C2 at 1:30 pm. On May 3rd another summit attempt was made by Robinson and Wyatt. They left C3 at 12:00 pm. They reached the top at 9:00 am. They slept at C3 when they returned from summit and then ABC next day. On the third summit attempt Bach and Gauthier left C3 at 12:30 pm and reached the summit at 9:00 am. Gauthier went to C2 after summit and so did Bach. Bach and Gauthier say they saw Everest on May 6th, no other teams were with them except an unknown solo climber. Robinson and Wyatt say it was cloudy but they cross and prayer flags, 3 American women (Supy, Georgie, Kathryn) summitted same day (4 May) before Robinson and Wyatt did. * Robinson carried the peace torch to summit, it was lit there for 2-3 minutes. * Sri Chimnoy gave rope and hardware to the Norwegians for their efforts in fixing the rope. |
