| Route Notes | Did not use the direct route to summit but followed Tichy's circuitous route which not so steep and dangerous for tired climbers. Summit team left C3 5:00 am and included Zippel, who very tired at yellow band at 7800m and turned back to C3. 3 summiters on top at 10:00 am with no wind and fine view of Everest; back to C3 12:00 and C2 at 1:00 pm to sleep there. Were on summit before Italians by about one hour before 1st of Italians to reach top. 3 members left early: Demont bag cough, Hentschel not at all fit and Guenzal left because he knew Roesner, who fell to his death on another expedition on 13 May. |
