| Route Notes | Summit-time clouds so low could scarcely see where to go. Mack and Pemba sure they had reached highest point. While others 2 members wandered around a bit and fled in concern about their safety. Ellerby is certain he and Pemba reached true summit; saw pole a little below them. Other 2, Ellerby told them, were just a few minutes behind him and Pemba; they consider that they reached the summit (the Koreans on 22nd also did not climb as high as Ellerby and were in fact somewhat behind Nichols and McNally) "in this hurricane." Sherpa: Ang Pemba Sherpa, 27 years, this his first 8000er [from Kereng, born 1968 says trekking agent] |
| Accidents | Nothing serious; slightly frostbitten nose of Nichols; Cook cerebral edema |
