Route Notes Last two summit successes: 19 May Obermueller and Leuprecht summited separately, Obermueller first and he fell and broke his leg just above C3; he managed to crawl back to C3; Leuprecht was exhausted. On 19th next summit party arrived at C3 for their attempt next day; they were Greve, Erich and Stefan Gatt. 20th while Leuprecht descended to ABC, new summit team spent all morning preparing to get Obermueller down the mountain, strapping him on mats, and left C3 at 2:30 pm and reached C1 at 9:00 pm through snowfall and wind and arrived down next day to ABC. 25th May Greve, Erich and Stefan Gatts went up again to C2. 26th to C3 and 27th to summit and back to C2 same day. This was a non-guided climb; Gatt provided tents and food, etc. and climbers were on their own concerning their movements. Last summit push put off till last possible date so that Greve could regain strength after very tiring rescue work. Eberhard Jurgalski - May 2005 Eberhard cites an email message from Stefan Gatt stating that Siren Greve stopped at the summit plateau at 8000m, and did not continue on to the summmit. He said that she was too exhausted from the rescue effort of Obermueller on 20 May. Email from Stefan Gatt to Miss Hawley - 8 Aug 2005 In Nov 96 we made a very complicated rescue of a person in lying position that survived. After that my father, Siren and me made a summit-attempt again and I reached the summit. Coming down, Siren and my father were very tired when I reached them on 8100m. Shortly after that, they turned back to the last camp.
