| Route Notes | ABC at normal site C1 at normal site. May 2 five men left C2 for summit; left C2 at 2:30 am and on top at 1:30 pm after 1-1/2 hours from 1st "peak." Sakars made C2 but on 2 May down after 2 hours because of problem with food and down to C1; on 5 May tried for top and with Kaluza members and reached 8100m, then stopped since alone and not sure could return safely to C2 if went to summit. Sherpas: Jangbu, about 30, from Lumsa, climbed Everest in May 1993 in his 1st 8000er ascent Nawang Chokleg is monk at Thami monastery who is known in the world outside as Ang Jangbu; 34 years old; this is his 1st 8000er |
