| Route Notes | In summit bid, Keaton turned back because toes freezing, Ono exhaustion and Chuldim (Khumjung) to look after them. Guy Cotter sent fax from Lhasa hotel about bomb explosion & seeing army vehicles speeding down street, was arrested on 5th Sept and deported to KTM on 9th. Was intensively interrogated and forced to confess he had committed a crime; all this was video-taped as was his deportation. Sherpa Summiters: Ang Dorje (aka Chuldin) from Pangboche Norbu (aka Nuru) from Rolwaling Both climbed Everest with Hall's expedition. Did not attempt Xixabangma as planned because the 2 clients who had originally wanted to did not summit Cho Oyu & were no longer interested in Xixabangma. |
