Route Notes 2-man team, Gail Milosovic and Tomo (?), crossed illegally from Nepal at Nangpa La, were spotted by authorities and taken into custody by 2 men with guns when they came down - most of their equipment was confiscated and they were escorted back to the border. Pratt made his own illegal attempt right after Serbs whom he met. Yugo Everest members spr '96 had heard vaguely of this climb, thought they had reached only 6700m - knew nothing more - didn't know names. Skarja reports these 2 Yugoslavs got no higher than 5700m before being expelled by authorities. Cho Oyu - Autumn 1994 A pair of Yugoslavs (from Serbia, still part of what's left of Yugoslavia), Slobodan Gejo and Safet Mavric, made an unauthorized attempt on Cho Oyu, having crossed illegally from Khumbu over the Nangpa La into Tibet. They did not reach the summit: their highest point has been given to me (in August 1995) as 6800m by a British climber, Jonathan Pratt, who made his own illegal attempt right after these two, whom he met, and (in August this year) as only 5700m by a Slovenian Alpine Federation official, Tone Skarja. The two Yugoslavs were caught by the authorities in Tibet, escorted back to the border and most of their gear confiscated. Gejo's biodata is available in the files of autumn 1995 Yugoslav Annapurna II team and autumn 1996 US-Yugoslav-German Everest (from north) team.
