Route Notes Tried to go to on ABC north of Nangpa La but a Chinese army expedition to climb Cho Oyu arrived at northern ABC that day, 21 Sept; Inaki could see them by binoculars. He retreated to BC. 22nd all Spaniards went to Nangpa La & met & Chinese officers; one had pistol - no fingers on one hand, spoke English & said that anyone with Nepali permit & wanted to climb Cho Oyu must pay $2000/person (but for 7 persons only total $13,000). Spanish said would return to BC and consider payment but didn't need to think since didn't have the money.
