| Route Notes | Kim left C3 at midnight of 17 Sept for the summit. He reached the summit at 8:00 am on 18 Sept, stayed on summit for 10 minutes, and returned to C3 at 5 pm. Next day 19 Sept he spent the night at C1, then went to Nangpa La and spent the night there. On 20 Sept he arrived at Namche. There was a Korean expedition on the mountain, Kim reported his summit time from the summit to Um Hong-Gil, but Um did not accept Kim's summit because he was not on the permit. Christine Pae (KAF) - May 2011 "He [Kim Jae-Soo] did not get the permission of Cho Oyu in 1993, but at that time he was with Mr. Hong-Gil Um. He got the summit on Sep 20th, 1993 without permission and he announced his re-try it legally again with permission with press release. Maybe Ms. Hawley has not any record of this climbing since no record in permission, but her secretary Jiban knew the truth because Mr. Jae-Soo Kim had a interview with Jiban on his Cho Oyu climbing." |
