Route Notes Climbed normal route (Austrian) to 7200m then to West Ridge at 7600m. Then climbed SW Face to summit. I believe this same route climbed by Tibetans in 1985. Summit plateau was reached 9 am on 20th Sept. High point reached was the saddle at the southeast edge on the summit plateau which is about 20m lower than either of other summits little to the south and east of the saddle. Brown - 13 Oct 93 He saw Poles tracks continuing beyond his own high point; these tracks went on to the right and would have gone to highest point on mountain. "At the time, there didn't seem to be any point to going further" himself; "we definetely didn't get to the highest bump." They could see a point that was 20m higher than where they (Brown's party) stopped. 3 Americans and Spaniard, Inaki: Ochoa, reached summit plateau together; Inaki went on for 30 minutes or more and Americans then followed in his tracks; all 4 men turned back at same point therefore Inaki also not to highest point. Jennings went only to C2; was afraid of snow/avalanches situation above.
