| Route Notes | BC before Nangpa La ABC camp French 2nd ABC at foot of mountain C1 at French camp site C2 at French camp site C3 at French camp site. Beck went to Cho Oyu because easiest 8000er. Had only $1000 from entire stay in Nepal. Followed normal route almost all the way. Went to true summit as did French. Beck was entirely alone until he met up with French expedition; did not even have yaks to BC. Unauthorized climb; did not apply for permit because couldn't afford one. |
