Route Notes Chinese BC 21st High BC near Nangpa La (at sharp bend in route of Spanish 1984) C1 at top of ridge running southwest (in direct line with M of Khumbu) C2 under serac C3 at top of seracs (end of serac section) C4 at Spanish 1984 autumn C4. 1st attempt for summit 5 Sept. 2 members reached 7900m but knee-deep snow and tired; all down to high BC. 2nd attempt by 3 men on 9 Sept. On 11th one back down while 2 to C3 and 12th to C4 and 13th to top. 14th all camps cleared. Too much snow to see [body of] Stefan Woerner or his tent.
