Route Notes Frederic Justet was a Makalu Adventure client on the Climbalaya permit. Report from Justet: Approach: On 13 Sept Heli to Kerung. On 14 drove to Tingri. CBC 16/09 4900m ABC 17/09 5700m C1 22/09 6400m 23/09 went down to ABC. There was a heavy snowfall/about a meter high, for four days that collapsed the tents at C1 and fixed lines buried. The fixed-line work was redone all the way up. C2 04/09 7100m Smt 07/09 by Justet and Pastemba (Pasang) at 10:44 CST Fixed rope: collectively put up from ice fall between C1 and C2 to the summit plateau. Left ABC on 10 Oct. Sherpas: Pastemba Oxygen: C2 to summit. Did not use on descent as O2 ran out. Summit push started on 7 Oct from C2 at 01:21 hrs CST. Reached summit at 10:44 hrs. Weather was very good, clear sky, little windy. They stayed on the summit for about 30 minutes. Clear pictures of Everest side and the summit, lots of prayer flags. There were four or five climbers on the summit ahead of Justet team and about 10 climbers descending while they were going up. Justet said that descent to C2 took 6 hrs and 50 minutes. They spent night at C2. Next day 8 October went down to C1 and the following day to ABC. On 10 Oct drove to Tingri where they had to stay two nights. From Tingri it took two complete days to reach Lhasa. Note: 3 clients of Climbalaya. One from Poland of same age of Justet. He summited on the same day after 20 minutes or half an hour later. A girl from India and a young man from Canada. No idea about their summit. The two may have gone up after Justet left the mountain.
