Route Notes CBC 02/09 4800m ABC 05/09 5700m C1 09/09 6400m C2 12/09 7200m C3 27/09 7500m Smt 28/09 by Berthold, Buffetti, Hentgen, Schneider Andreas, Thalhammer, Vulliez, Gelu Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Nuru Sherpa at 9 am, Stalder (without O2) at 7.30 am. Stalder, Fahrenkamp and Grohall left C3 at midnight – all three without supplemental O2. When they reached about 7600m Grohall was too cold and turned back. At the Yellow Band at about 7700m, Fahrenkamp suffered from a sore throat and turned back. Both Grohall and Fahrenkamp descended to ABC. Stalder continued on and spent about 20 minutes on the summit and descended to ABC where they arrived at 5 pm. The rest of the group (all using O2) left C3 at 1 am. Straightforward climb until the Yellow Band, which was very crowded and slowed down the group. They spent about half an hour on the summit and descended to C1, where they arrived at about 6:30 pm. The Sherpas arrived at 10 pm as they were breaking down the camps. On 29/09 all back to ABC. Schneider Christine only went to BC; she never intended to climb. Team left ABC on 01/10. Fixed rope: 3000m with Alpenglow Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to top to C2 by Buffetti and Schneider; rest of the members and Sherpas from C3 to top C3. Stalder, Fahrenkamp and Grohall did NOT use O2.
