Route Notes BC 05/09 5000m ABC 09/09 5700m C1 15/09 6400m C2 27/09 7140m C3 30/09 7400m (only Bierling) Smt 30/09 by Ross, Lhakpa Tundu at 8:45 am, Wallace, Casserley at 9:15 am, Mueller-Zantop, Pasang Dawa, Pilgrim, Dorjee Gyalzen at 9:45 am. Smt 01/10 by Bierling (No O2) and Lhakpa Thundu (2nd time) at 1 pm. 30 Sept summit team left at midnight. Straightforward climb. All members and Sherpas descended to C2, where they arrived between 11:30 am and 5 pm. 01 Oct summit team left C3 at 2 am. Only few people on the route. Reached the summit at 1 pm in the clouds. Descended to C2, where they arrived at 6:45 pm. Todd reached 6500m on 16 Sept. It was on the first acclimatization rotation. He was suffering from bronchitis and stayed at BC for the rest of the expedition. Mascher reached 7200m on 29 Sept. He was intending to reach the top without O2, but felt that he was too slow and abandoned the climb. Oxygen: Taken and used from C2 to top to C2 by all members (apart from Bierling) and Sherpas; Bierling did not use oxygen.
