Route Notes Four members, Kausch, Van 'T Hof, Ohtsuka and Jaiser, left C3 for the top at 2:00 am (NST) on 25 May with three Sherpas, Dawa Jangbu, Lhakpa Tendu and Palden Nima. Sixty four year old Ohtsuka became exhausted and turned back at 8000m and Lhakpa Tendu went down with him. The other three members and two Sherpas continued to the summit; Kausch, Jaiser and Palden Nima arrived there at 10:30 am while Van'T Hof and Dawa Jangbu summited at 12:00 noon. In their descent, the leader Kausch was the first to return to C3 at 3:00 pm with Palden Nima, and the last were Jaiser and Dawa Jangbu at 6:00 pm. When he had gotten down to 7600m., Jaiser fell 15 meters, but he got only a cut above his eyebrow. The next day, Ohtsuka and Van'T Hof went down to C1 and to ABC on the 27th while the others arrived at ABC on the 26th. Oxygen was used by two members only. Ohtsuka was on oyxgen from C3 to his high point to C2. The leader, Kausch, used it from C3 to the summit to C3. None of the climbers used it. Non-summiting members: Edward Maczuga never got above BC because of a sinus infection and left on 30 April, the day after the team arrived at BC. Thomas Meier had one artificial leg, and he found the surface of the route too slippery. He reached 6200m in early May, left the team on 6 May. Sherpas: Dawa Jangbu Sherpa, 4/6/79, Patle, Okhaldhunga, Everest X9, Cho Oyu X1 Lhakpa Tendu Sherpa, 28/4/77 (15/12/2033), Patle, Okhaldhunga, no 8000ers Palden Nima Sherpa, 29/8/78, Yaphu-9, Sankhuwasabha, Everest X3, Cho Oyu X1
