Route Notes Group A (guided): Bermejo, Melowny Perez, Ruiz, Tosas (guide) Group B (independent): Gallego, Quintana Group A: Melowny Perez left 27 Sept due to psychological issues (had enough) and went home. Bermejo, Ruiz, Tosas and Rinji went for summit push on 29 Sept to C1; to C2 on 30 Sept. 30th night at 10 pm tried for the summit. Ruiz felt bad due to ulcer and returned to ABC. The rest continued for summit push. At 7900m, Bermejo was very tired, so group decided to descend to C2. No problem with health, only tired. Slept a little at C2, then down to ABC at 6 pm. Group B: Gallego and Quintana went for summit push on 30 Sept, stayed at C2. Night of Oct 1 were to leave for summit push, so spent an extra night at C2. Left from C2 about 11 pm. On Oct 2, Jordi can see them with binoculars from ABC at 3-4 pm at 8000m above Yellow Band. They decided to turn back just above the plateau after 17 hours out. No oxygen, no Sherpas, no radio. But Jordi sees them turn back. Gallego descends faster and loses Quintana (Pepe); nobody sees him. Gallego estimates arriving back at C2 about 6-7 pm, judging by angle of sun, so not entirely sure.
