Route Notes BC at CBC/IC on 19 April at 5400m C1 at half camp. The father and son team started their summit push from C3 at 6 am on 5 May. They got to the top at 12:20 pm and stayed on summit for 40 minutes. They could not see Everest as Nepal side was totally cloudy. Then they went down to C3 where they arrived at 5 pm. Both continued to descend to 6800m (half camp) and slept there. Next day 6 May went down to ABC. Guarachis said that the night of 4 May was very cold and windy. They could not sleep that night. At about 4 am of 5 May the wind stopped. The father-son team showed me their photos of summit which has some peaks in the background. I copied the photos into my laptop and showed later to French climber Aymeric Vinot who summited Cho Oyu in the same season. According to Vinot the peaks in the background are in Tibet and can be seen from Cho Oyu BC. Vinot said that claimed summit photos are not of the Cho Oyu summit because the peaks in the background cannot be seen from the summit. Later, I talked to Korean climber Kim Jae-Soo who summited Cho Oyu, also said that no Tibetan peaks can be seen from the summit of Cho Oyu. The Bolivians high point may be a little above 8000m.
