Route Notes BC at CBC/IC on 20 April at about 5400m. First attempt was made on 12 May by Tomala and Lhakpa by leaving C3 at 8 am (CST). When they arrived at 7800m strong wind started picking up and forced both Tomala and Lhakpa to turn around all the way down to ABC. On 13 May Grudzien and Stanczak left C3 at 5:30 am CST for the summit. Stanczak was exhausted and turned around from 7600m to C3. Grudzien continued for the summit and reached to the top at 1 pm (10:45 am NST). He stayed on the summit for about 30-40 minutes and descended to C3 where he arrived at about 5 pm. Both Grudzien and Stanczak spent the night at C3. Next day 14 May both went down to ABC. The weather, during ascent was clear. Grudzien had good view of Everest and Lhotse and he saw prayer flags on the summit. While descending there was little wind and cloud. A French climber [Salomon] with a Sherpa was also on the summit at the same time. On 17 May Tomala and Lhakpa made their summit bid by starting from C3 at 7:50 am in strong wind. They reached the summit at 1:50 pm (11:35 am NST), stayed on summit for about 20 minutes and returned to C3 at 5:50 pm. They had rest for a while at C3 and cleared the camp then descended C2 where they arrived at 8:50 pm and slept there. Next day on 18 May both went down to ABC. The summit day weather was cloudy and they could not see Everest from the summit, but they saw prayer flags on the summit. The Cholewa couple on the way up to C3 from C2 got to 7300m on 11 May at about 2 pm and turned around to C2. Both of them had fever and throat infection. Moskala climbed up to 6900m on 5 May. She did not like to go further up. Physically she was in good shape and fit. Maybe it was a motivational problem. Fixed rope: 200m below C2. Sherpa: Lhakpa Chhiri Sherpa, 17/11/1974, Pangboche, Everest X6, K2 X1
