Route Notes C1.5 at 6700m was occupied for one night only, the ngiht of 18 September, by the members who climbed up to C2 the next day. They were on an acclimatization climb. No member or Sherpa went above C2 at 7000m, but all members, except two who suffered from chest infections and had left early, and all six climbing Sherpas occupied C2 on 19 September. They returned to ABC on the 20th. On the 27th, all started from ABC for a summit bid and arrived in C1 that day. But also on the 27th, avalanching injured a number of Sherpas from several teams while they were fixing rope. Two of this expedition's Sherpas, Dawa Jangbu and Pasang Bhote, were hit at 6800m. Dawa Jangbu was temporarily buried in avalanche material, and Pasang Bhote was blown 100m down the mountain. Neither was actually injured. The team returned to ABC on the 28th, and next day all groups' Sherpas announced that there would be no more rope-fixing. Expedition was cancelled. Holland and Leonard went no higher than C1 on the 11th because of chest infections and left the team on the 15th. Holland used oxygen for two nights in ABC.
