Route Notes Sanchez started his summit bid alone from C2 on 7 Oct at 6 am NST. He reached the top around 2 pm (he did not carry a watch). He used a GPS borrowed from another Argentinean climber Maximo Kausch. Sanchez returned to C2 at 5 pm and spent the night there. On 8 Oct he slept at C1 and next day to ABC. The weather on summit day was windy and blowing snow and did not see Everest as it was cloudy. Hernandez went up to C1 and slept there on 4 Oct. His plan was to be in BC in C1 and not to attempt for summit. Ruiz went up to C2 on 2 Oct. He left BC and arrived Kathmandu on 4 Oct and departed on 6 Oct. He was was on holiday and had to go back to his job. Max Kausch - 10 April 2011 Max Kausch says he did not loan a GPS unit to Sanchez, but he did meet Sanchez and his two mates in Zhangmu and gave them the GPS waypoints of the summit region in case it was cloudy. Kausch thinks that Sanchez transferred these waypoints to his own GPS unit.
