Route Notes Holt, Kausch (the leader) and two Sherpas, Ang Gelu and Palden Nima, set out for the summit from C3 at 4:00 am (Chinese time) on 24 May. Ang Gelu arrived at the top at 12:30 pm (10:15 NST) while the others got there at 1:00 pm. They descended in a windy snowstorm and reached C3 at 4:30 pm. The next day, the 25th, they were back in ABC. Holt and the two Sherpas used no oxygen; Kausch used it from C3 to the top and back to C3. Non-summiting members: Graeffe went up to C2 twice, on 10 and 15 May, then down to ABC both times; when the summit party were on their way to the top and went to C3, she got to only 6600m, ran out of energy and retreated to ABC, where she stayed. Newton got to 5900m on 6 or 7 May; he had been seriously ill and was not acclimatizing; he turned around, descended to C1 and then to ABC, where he remained for the rest of the climbing period. Solari got to C1 on 8 May, was not acclimatizing, and the mountain was too much for him. He made no further attempts to climb above BC. Sherpas: Ang Gelu, 23/7/70, Surke, Chaurikharka-4, Solu, Everest X1 Palden Nima, 29/8/78, Yaphu-9, Makalu, Everest X3
