Route Notes The team established a camp between the sites of normal C1 and C2 because of the distance between them, and they called this camp C1.5. It was first occupied at 6850m on 3 Oct. On the 4th from this camp, the expedition's high point of 7000m was reached by all members except Burke and by Sherpas Dawa Jangbu, Lhakpa, Lhakpa Dorje, Nawang Chhangba and Sange Dorje in their acclimatization climb. They returned to ABC to rest on the 5th. Then fierce winds start to blow. On the 10th, Sherpas tried to re-pitch the tents at C1, but 65 km/hr winds prevented putting up any tents, and they descended to ABC the same day. The next day, the 11th, the attempt to climb Cho Oyu was abandoned because of the very strong winds. Burke did not participate in the climb because she was not well. She had recovered from pneumonia only three weeks before coming to Nepal, and at ABC she had very great difficulty breathing normally. She went 20m above ABC and had to be given oxygen and carried down to BC. She left BC on 26 September. Sherpas: Dawa Jangbu/Da Jangbu, 22/4/73, Pangboche, Everest X7, Cho Oyu X1 Lhakpa, 29/11/66, Taksindu-5, Solu, no 8000ers Lhakpa Dorje, 16/11/61, Sanam, Gudel, Solu, Cho Oyu X3, Everest X4, Kangch X1, Lhotse X1, Makalu X3 Nawang Chhangba, 13/9/70, Khumjung, Khumbu, Cho Oyu X2, Everest X1 Sange Dorje, 14/4/78, Khumjung, Cho Oyu X2, Everest X4
