Route Notes The team had initially planned to put up a C3, but as the weather forecast was bad they decided to push for the summit from C2. Summit team left C2 at 00:30 am on 22 Sept. Weather was clear and calm, deep snow. They arrived at C3 at 4 am and carried on to the summit. The snow was about 20 cm deep up to the Yellow Band; however, after the Yellow Band breaking trail was very difficult as the snow was knee-deep. There was fixed rope up to the Yellow Band after that no more rope had been fixed. They reached the summit at 4:30 pm. They spent 25 minutes on the summit. The views were fantastic and they saw Mount Everest. They descended to C2, where they arrived at 10:30 pm. On 23 Sept they descended to BC but stopped at C1 to collect their gear. Fernandez reached C1 on 12 Sept. He stayed one night there. As he did not feel well and had a bad cough all through the expedition he decided to abandon the climb and stayed at BC for the the duration of the expedition. He went back up to C1 on 23 Sept to help Rojo and Salinos take down their gear.
