Route Notes On 29 Sept Asensio and Duran ascended to C2. They left C1 at 10:30 am (CST) and arrived at C2 at 6 pm. They left at 10:30 am CST) and arrived at 8 pm. Little snowing. They descended to ABC on 30 Sept. On 2 Oct Diaz and Ortega ascended to C2, stayed two nights and descended to C1. On way down they found Miha Valic from Slovenia (4 Oct). He was on the rope on bottom of serac. He was unconscious. Diaz and Ortega and 2 Americans tried to revive him but in vain. They spent two hours with him but had to leave. They stayed at C1. They descended to ABC on 5 Oct. Same day Asensio and Duran ascended to C1. On 6 Oct they intended to ascend to C2. But Duran had problems breathing so they went down to C1 to stay the night. On 7 Oct they descended to ABC and decided to abandon expedition. On 7 Oct Diaz and Ortega ascended from ABC to C2. They left at 7 am and arrived at 7 pm. They stayed the night. The next morning they wanted to go to summit but it was too windy. They decided to abandon expedition and descended to BC.
