| Route Notes | High point team left C1 at 9:30 am and got to high point at 3 pm. As the weather worsened they turned back to C1, where they arrived at 5 pm. As the weather did not improve they descended to ABC on 29 Sept and decided not to go back up. Ainscough and Browning reached 6000m (deposit camp) on 18 Sept; so did Furneaux and Sasseville. Furneaux felt very sick and he and Sasseville descended to ABC the same evening. They left deposit camp at 8 pm. However, Furneaux was too ill to make it all the way and rested at 5800m whilst Sasseville went to ABC and sent Sherpas up to help him. They arrived at ABC at 1 am. On 19 Sept Ainscough and Browning descended to ABC on 20 Sept with rest of the team. Sherpa: Phurba Ridar Bhote, 1958-9, Chepuwa-4, Makalu, Everest X2, Cho Oyu X2 |
