Route Notes Adventure Guides Cho Oyu Expedition 2007 led by Yoshitomi Okura - 10 Oct 2007 First summit party of four members and two Sherpas reached the top at 10:30 am NST on 3rd Oct. They were Amano, Fujikura, Hiraoka, Tsuchiya, Dawa Chiri and Gomba Sherpa. They left C3 at 4:00 am that morning and descended to C2 at 2:00 pm. Second party of two members and three Sherpas were on top between 9:10 and 9:30 am on 4th Oct. They were Tamura, Okura, Pasang Kaji, Phurba Chhiri and Dirga Sing Tamang. They left C3 and 4:50 am and down to C2 at 12:00 noon. (Tamura is unable to hear and speak.) Both parties saw Everest and Lhotse from the summit and at the summit many prayer flags and Khadas. Minamii turned back at 6660m on 23 Sept. He was 72 years old and had a pacemaker attached to his heart; he decided he should go no higher. Yoshida reached C3 on 3 Oct, then suffered from altitude sickness and made no bid to go higher. Kido as base camp manager remained at ABC throughout the climb. Oxygen: Members in summit pushes (including Yoshida who did not continue up from C3) used it sleeping in C1 and climbing from C2 to C3 to top to C2 and in C1. Sherpas used no oxygen.
