Route Notes First Croatian Female Expedition to Cho Oyu - 9 Oct 2006 First summit party left C3 at 2:15 am NST on 2 October. They were the two Bostjancic sisters, Simicevic, Lhakpa Nuru, Nawang Jangbu and Pasang Chhiri. They summited at 9:55 am, saw Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse clearly, and descended to C2 at 3:45 pm, very tired and cold. Next day they were in ABC. Second summit party left C3 at 2:45 am. They were two members, Macesic and Mijailovic, plus Lhakpa Nuru again from C3 and Dawa Tenzing. Mijailovic and Dawa Tenzing summited at 10:45 am and Macesic with Lhakpa Nuru one hour later. They had perfect weather including no wind and saw the Everest group. The climb was over, so the second party cleared the team's camps as they descended. They stayed that night on C2, where they arrived at 4:45 and 5:45 pm, and next day they had all the team's gear in ABC. Six bottles of oxygen were taken to Cho Oyu for medical purposes. It was used by only one person during the climb: Mijanialovic from the Yellow Band (7600m) to the top to C2. She was moving very slowly and vomiting, but on oxygen "I really took off" and completed her ascent fast. Non-summiting members: Berljak stayed at ABC ("it is a female expedition, so males (leader and doctor) not above base," Berljak explained). Boban went to C2 on 20 Sept as a member of a proposed third summit party, but there was no time left for a third bid (second party had summited on 3 October, and yaks had been ordered for 5th at ABC). Bojko reached C1 on 12 Sept (much slower than the other climbing members and decided not to try to go any higher). Carevic got only to 5800m from ABC on 8 Sept (not feeling well, then and wanted to stay in ABC during the rest of the climb). Dabic - same as Boban. Horvat went up from C1 on 19 Sept to only 6600m (not moving fast enough). Kovac left the expedition on 6 Sept, the day after they had arrived at BC. She was weak from altitude sickness and could not acclimatize. Levar - same as Boban and Dabic. Markovic - same as Berljak. Prebeg reached C2 on 20 Sept as member of second summit party, but on 27 Sept was vomiting on the way up to C1 and went down to ABC. Randic - same as Bojko. Sijan was in second summit party, but on her way up from C1 to C2 on 2 Oct decided to give up at 7400m because she was much slower than the others in the party. Vicenski went to C1 on 26 Sept, then stayed in ABC for the rest of the climb because not feeling well. Vranjes went to 6600m on 12 Sept (too slow to continue climbing). Vrbek went to C1 on 12 Sept, then stayed in ABC for the rest of the climb because not feeling well. Zupanic went to C1 on 18 Sept, then stayed in ABC for the rest of the climb because not feeling well. Sherpas: Dawa Tenzing, 21/3/86, Thamo, Cho Oyu X1, Everest X1 Lhakpa Nuru, 26/9/72, Thami, Everest X8, Cho Oyu X2 Nawang Jangbu, 16/2/75 or 13/3/75 (4/11/2031 or 29/11/2031), Thami, brother of Lhakpa Nuru, who says Nawang scaled Dhaulagiri I in 2001 and Cho Oyu in 2005 Pasang Chhiri, 30/1/75, Samde, near Thami, Cho Oyu X2
