| Route Notes | Himex Cho Oyu led by Russell Brice - Autumn 2007 Intended summit party on 24 Sept occupied C2 for push to top via C3 on 25th and summit on 26th Sept. Members were: Ballinger, Dovell, Henziksen, Hill, Holiday, Hutson, Putnam, Smith and Windle. With them were six Sherpas and four Tibetans. But the wind was too strong for them to go higher on the 25th and instead they descended. This was the highest point reached by any members. Six Sherpas had pitched C3 at 7527m on 19 September but they did not sleep there -- the camp was never occupied. This was the Sherpas highest point. The weather continued to be very bad with snowfall and strong winds. The members decided on the 27th that they had had enough bad weather with no immediate let up expected and abandoned the climb. Two members had already left; Louboutin on the 19th for family reasons, and Pucik on the 23rd because he was not strong enough to go higher than 6500m. Sherpas: Phurba Tashi, 24/5/71, Khumjung, Cho Oyu X5, Everest X10 Danuru, 10/4/73, Namche Bazar, Cho Oyu X4 Lhakpa Nuru, 18/6/80, Phortse, Everest X2, Manaslu X1 Kami Tshering, 30/8/86, Khumjung, no 8000ers Ang Nuru, 29/6/89, Khumjung, no 8000ers Nima Tshering (Ngima Chhiri), 22/4/72, Phortse, Everest X2 Tibetans Wangbe (Wang Dui), 1/3/06, Cho Oyu 1/10/06 Dorje (Dor Jee), Everest 15/5/06 Pu Tsering (new man, no biodata available) Tenzing (Tenzen, Den Zeng), 28/3/83, Shigatse, Cho Oyu X2, Everest X4 |
