| Route Notes | Ice cliffs above 6800m were hard ice and a technical climb and members not skilled enough and not properly equipped in gear for the climb. "Very surprised how difficult it was" according to Russell Brice to Bate; as the Himalaya try out, Cho Oyu will be increasingly difficult technically. Stayed C2 for 2 nights and Bate tried several times to go higher than 6800m but not able to do so. McDonagh and Pinfield went up only to C1; not strong enough to go higher. Wall did not climb above BC; not well and left 24 or 25 April. Cho Oyu for Bate was acclimatization for Everest. |
