| Route Notes | C1.5 above icefall. Pepper left C3 at 5 am (C1) on her own. It was windy and it was snowing; she met two Italians (probably Davide Tosi & his mate) at Yellow Band but they turned back. After that she did not see anybody else. Climb straightforward but tiring as there was fresh snow. Good views of Everest on summit as weather had cleared. She descend to C3, arrived there at 6 pm. On 10 May she left C3 at noon, reached C1 at 3 pm and ABC at 6:30 pm. Beachcroft reached 6800m on 30 April when he and Pepper climbed to above icefall for acclimatization. They descended to ABC the same day. Beachcroft discovered slight frostnip on 8 of his toes which he thinks he acquired at C1 on 29 April when he went to toilet without shoes!!! Due to his toes, he decided to stay in ABC. Pepper used two Sherpas of Jeffrey Justman's team to help her carry equipment to the camps. Pasang Sherpa & Dendi Sherpa carried her tent, duffel and downsuit from C1 to C2 and all her equipment to C3. |
