Route Notes Email from Billi Bierling On 4 Sept a Chinese truck arrived at ABC in the afternoon and the drunk driver drove over 3 tents. There were climbers in the tents who were sleeping. The climbers were lucky as nobody was injured. The truck came to a stop in front of the Italian mess tent. Puxbaumer said the incident was quite a shock to a lot of people and an Italian team abandoned their expedition the next day and went back to Kathmandu. The police only showed up on 5 Sept. Puxbaumer started at 7:00 am (NST) from C1 on 21 Sept. The weather was good, good snow conditions, very cold but no wind. He arrived at C2 (7100m) at 1 pm and climbed a bit higher to reconnoiter and when he reached 7300m he decided to turn back due to avalanche danger. He turned back around 2:30 pm and met two Italians (Enrico and Hermano) at 5 pm. Puxbaumer spent the night at C1 and descended to ABC the next day. The weather was pretty bad then; it was very windy and icy. His teammate Brenher was at ABC waiting for him. Brenher reached C1 (6400m) with Puxbaumer on 12 Sept and stayed the night. Both members descended to ABC on 13 Sept. Brenher lacked motivation and thought he was too slow to carry on. He stayed at ABC for the rest of the expedition.
