Route Notes BC at CBC/IC on 15 at 5300m. Marabotto helped by British Army expedition to return to ABC. Mondino left C2 at 03:00 hours (NST) of 1 October, reached summit at 14:30 hours, stayed on summit about 30 minutes, then descended to C2 at 22:30 hours. He descended to C1 on 2 October and following day to ABC. Weather was very good, clear and calm but very cold. Saw Everst and other mountains from the summit and on the summit prayer flags tied to oxygen cyclinder. Before him there were French and Slovenian climbers. Mondino said that about 80 people summited on that day. Mondino said that Camilo Lopez was with him at C1 and they climbed together to C2 where they spent the nigth in the same tent. Mondino said that Lopez was not feeling well because he had vomited several times and he could not eat... he had only few chocolates... in such health condition and without food and supplementary oxygen, Mondino thinks it was not possible for Lopez to go to summit. Roberto Marabotto another member of Mondino team left C3 at about 08:30 hours on 8 October. He had to turn around to C3 from about 8000m due to exhaustion. He arrived to C3 at about 19:30 hours. Marabotto shared the tent of Slovenian climbers, Rauter and Karnicnik, and Polish climbers Pawel Michalski and left C3 together for summit. Michalski wrote in his email reply that Marabotto was supposed to use tent and sleeping bag of Spanish (?) expedition but when he reached C3 on 7 October the tent was not there. Michalski also wrote that he convinced Marabotto to turn around from 7900m because he observed effect of altitude in Marabotto. Marabotto while descending from C3 to C2 he fell down and lost one of the crampons. He said Michalski gave him one of his crampons. Marabotto said he was very tired and very slow and had thought that he may not make it to ABC ever. Then, the British Army team members (James?) told Marabotto that they would help him to go down to ABC. With the help of other 3-4 people he was able to reach ABC. Marabotto said that the British climbers came to him as angels to save his life. He was deeply grateful to the British team. Ferrer Frisach, Spanish member of Mondino team climbed up to C1 on 26 September. He suffered from cold and did not go beyond C1. Mondino and Ferrer Frisach returned to Kathmandu on 9 October and trying to leave on 17 or 18th. Marabotto returned to Kathmandu on 12th and will leave on 16th.
