Route Notes Summit team left C3 on 30 Sept at 1 am. Weather was clear. After 1-1/2 hours Taglinger felt that his feet were going numb and sped up to prevent frostbite. He reached summit 2 hours before clients. He took pictures of Everest and immediately returned to C3 where he tried to thaw his feet. Rest of team reached summit at 8:15 am. They spent 15 minutes, saw Everest and descended to C3. They arrived at 11 am. Joachim Schweizer noticed there that his ring and middle fingers of both hands were numb. Together with Taglinger they descended to C2. He massaged them all night. As Taglinger they descended to C2, arrived at 2 pm. Schweizer's fingers started to turn blue in C2. He massaged them all night. As Taglinger's feet were still cold he descended to ABC, where he arrived at 7:15 pm. There he put his feet in 37 degree C water until feeling started to come back. Part of team that stayed at C2 on 1 Oct returned to ABC on 2 Oct and arrived at 4 pm. Schweizer also put his hand into 37 degree C water at ABC. On his return to Kathmandu, both his ring and middle fingers were still dark blue. He did not go to CIWEC. Will see doctor on his return to Germany. Taglinger's toes seemed Ok. Griessmeier reached C2 on 17 Sept; he abandoned climb due to fatigue and stomach problems on 29 Sept, when he reached C1 for 2nd time. Awang Dorje from Lhasa (21 years) reached C3 on 30 Sept; he descended to ABC the same day as he was not feeling well.
