Route Notes 23 May party left C3 at 4:00 am (with Chinese staff); Kraus turned back at 7900m tired and down to C2 to sleep; rest of party summited at 2:30 pm and all down to C2 (C2 occupied by next summit party) at 7:00 pm. 24th May summit party left C3 2:30 am. Hartmane turned back with bad cough and tired at 7700m at 4:00 am and rest to top at 9:30 am and all to C1 at 7:00 pm. Oxygen used by O'Brien from C3 to top to C2; Viles from C3 to top to C3. Hired Summiters: Pasang Gombu Sherpa, 46, Saframa, Lokhim-9, Cho Oyu X3 Tsedan Chomay, Tibetan, 20, from Zhangmu, now Lhasa as student, 1st 8000er Phubu Dundzu, Tibetan, Nyalam/Lhasa, 1979, Everest 21/5/03 (aka Phurba Dungchu) Thumba, Tibetan, 1/10/83, Shigatse, Cho Oyu 28/9/05, Everest 5/6/05 Non-summiters: Corr to C2 only, no motivation to go higher. Mervin to C3, stomach problem kept him from going for top.
