| Route Notes | BC at CBC ABC at usual campsite C1 at usual campsite C2 at usual campsite C3 at usual campsite. All four members left C3 at 06:30 hours (NST) on 22nd, summited at 13:00 hours, stayed about 10 minutes. Benegas descended to ABC where he arrived at 20:00 hours. O'Neil and Rigby ski descended to C2 at 17:00 hours. Spent night next day to ABC. Weather was good but lots of fresh knee-deep snow. Others on summit on that day were Russell Brice, plus 3 of his members and 3 of his Sherpas. Team member Griber had to turn back from about 8000m as he was exhausted. The team returned to KTM on Sept 26. Benegas will leave on 27/8th and rest of the members on 29th. Benegas did not try the Spanish route because of snow conditions (too much snow). He may be coming for Everest in the spring either with Russell Brice or Mountain Madness, not sure. Note oxygen: Benegas and O'Neil summited without oxygen, Rigby used oxygen from C3 to summit and on and off on descent to C2, Griber used oxygen from C3. |
