| Route Notes | Team stayed 1 night at C2 and descended to ABC on 8 Oct. They had 2 rest days. On 11 Oct they went to C1 and due to high wind. They decided to abandon climb the next day. The two Sherpas went back up to C2 to clear out. Team used oxygen from C1 because they tested summit oxygen (company has had 70 percent failure rate in two years!!) However, team was happy with oxygen - it worked well. Sherpas: Naga Dorje, Khumjung, (4X Cho Oyu before) Karchen Dawa, Khumjung, (3X Cho Oyu before) Smith started having problems with his eye at C1 and abandoned climb on 3 Oct; it was determined to be retinal hemorrhage. Frid abandoned climb due to bronchitis; he got to C1 on 3 Oct. |
