| Route Notes | 1 May summit attack by 4 members and 4 Sherpas. Left C3 at 4:00 am NST. All 8 reached 7950m at 1:00 pm. Now too late to reach top and returned to C3, where reached 5:30 pm. 2 May to C1 and 3rd May ABC and climb finished. Takeshita totally blind since aged 15 years because of illness; he was led by Okuda holding one end of a pole and Takeshita the other end from ABC to high point to ABC. Takeshita and Yasuoka used oxygen from C1 to high point to and in C3; other 2 Japanese and 4 Sherpas none at all. Why does Takeshita climb? he had difficulty to explain thought for several minutes, said "I climb for myself... it gives me satisfaction" to be climbing. Has climbed for 10 years in Japan, scaled Island Peak 3 years ago. Okuda - 2 June 2005 Takashita too tired for 2nd summit bid and no oxygen for another try.
