| Route Notes | On 10th May Ang Temba, Nima Dorje and Pasang Tshering pitched C2 at 6850m then slept in ABC. On 12 May Lohmeier went to C1 and stayed there (stomach problem) while Thornton and DiMartino up to 6700m, then turned back because bad weather and tired from attempt on Xixa before going to Cho Oyu. Thorton slept in C1 and down to ABC 13 May and DiMartino down to ABC on 12 May. Leader Aprin had frostnipped fingers on Xixa, so went no higher than ABC and while others went higher, he went over to Nangpa La returned to ABC 14 May and decision made to abandon Cho Oyu because of bad weather (snowfall every afternoon), lack of strength by tired members (and Thorton, it was discovered had mild pulmonary edema). Sherpas: Ang Temba, Beding, Cho Oyu X9, Everest X1 Nima Dorje, Beding, Cho Oyu X5, Everest X7, etc Pasang Tshering, Beding, Cho Oyu X4, Everest X3 |
