| Route Notes | High point at 7000m on 29th April by 3 Sherpas at C2 site. C2 pitched by 2 Sherpas on 24th April. Team rested in C1 on 30 April. 1 May all members and 3 Sherpas headed for C2. At 6400m Sabbagh no energy, exhausted, so Tashi took him to C1 and went up again; met Raeburn just below hanging ice cliff and they climbed cliff together to 6600m. Now Raeburn said he had no energy left, so Tashi took him to C1 at 4:00 pm in extremely slow descent. Michel Van den Munckhof below C2 at 10m high ice wall when Sherpas came down from C2 to find him, so took all 3 Sherpas to get him there. 4th and 5th heavy snowfall, 6th light shower. 7th Sherpas to C1 and 8th Pema, Tashi and Michel to towards C1 but 1-1/2 hours above ABC Michel had made extremely slow progress and soon no energy left, so at 5600m turned back and climb finished. Sherpas: Pasang Gyalzen, Makalu VDC, 3x8000er Temba Wangdi, Makalu VDC, Cho Oyu X3 Pema, Rolwaling, 40 years |
