Route Notes Summit bid from C3 2:30 am NST by Castiglioni, Parravicini, Ribaldi and Ang Babu (aka Jimba Zangbu). Riboldi stopped at 8000m tired; Parravicini stepped at 7650m tired and cold ,so only Castiglioni and Sherpa went to top at 9:40 am, saw Everest and Lhotse and down to C2 1:00 pm to wait for Riboldi who was last while Sherpa to C1 (Castiglioni would have gone to C1 with Sherpa). Ribaldi to C1 at 6:00 pm. Ribaldi reached C3, but no tent and no sleeping bag so had to go to C2 and lost trail and wandered till finally reached C2 in dark at 7:00 pm exhausted. Castiglioni told him to descend at 7900m when leader met him in leader's descent, but Riboldi said he had to get to 8000m first, continued up alone. All members in ABC 25th and BC on 26th. Romolo Riboldi (email) - 25 Jan 2014 Riboldi states that the summit team left C3 ahead of him (without telling him that they were departing for the summit). Riboldi decided to go on up alone and met the two summiters on their descent at 7900m. Riboldi continued towards the top and thinks he got to somewhere above 8000m.
