| Route Notes | From C2 all down to ABC afterwards. 30th, all (except Sundby) up for summit bid but Kippenes who turned back halfway to C1 to ABC when stomach trouble set in. Eide and Hope in C1, C2 1 Oct and left C2 for top at 2nd about 2:00 am (Chinese time) and both on top 1:00 pm (10:45 NST), saw Everest in perfect weather by Eide and Hope; Thorsrud turned back at 8000m with bad cough. All 3 slept in C2 and down to ABC 3 Oct. Kippenes on 30th down from summit bid team to ABC and on 1st to BC initially because of stomach problem when got very severe headache and vomiting so to Zangmu on 2 Oct, KTM 6th only waiting in Zangmu 4 days; hoping to return to mountain, but not better so to KTM instead. Sundby didn't acclimatize well and never went above C1. |
