Route Notes Catalans came to Kathmandu in mid-March and flew to Lukla for trekking and acclimatization (climbed Gokyo Ri, Kalapattar and finally Island Peak on April 5). Arrived at Cho Oyu BC on April 21. Gasuli left team on April 24 with symptoms of pulmonary edema. Up to C2 at 7000m on April 29. Returned to C2 on May 5 after bad weather (after bad weather spell?). Up to C3 at 7400m on May 7. Summited Cho Oyu on May 8 at 11:45 NST after leaving C3 at 4:45 am. Aymar snowboard descent from 7700m to 7300m. Above deduced from Spanish website. Letter from Katya Goryshina, Royal Mountain Trekking Cho Oyu Spr '04 The Belorussian team informed me that their tent was next to the Spanish tent at 7500m. On the 8th May they met 1 Spanish at about 8150-8180m He was coming down from the summit. After they summited they met the other Spanish at 8000m. He was going up. They never talked and don't know their names for sure. On the 11 May in BC the Chinese officer told them that their certificate is the first one, nobody descended before them. Email from Barril, 2 March 2007 We (Mr. Aymar and I) installed C1 on 26 April, nearly 6400m. I think our first night on C1 was on 28 April but I'm not sure. We installed the tent at C2 on 29 April. I don't remember if we slept there, I think we went down. We slept at C2 on 5 and 6 May. I arrived alone to the summit on 8 May at 11:35 am (Nepalese time). I did not see any other people there and I must open the track in the snow. I have been alone for about half hour on the top, then arrived to the summit the people from Belorussia. Mr. Aymar arrived after, I crossed him when I was going down. Mr. Aymar carried his snowboard till 7700m and when he went down I was not there, I don't know. I did not. We did not fix any ropes. But we paid to Dutch expedition for using their ropes. I think that it's impossible that Mr. Borja Pascual and Tarke Sherpa reached summit on 8 May. On 9 May we down to C1 and I don't know what happened in the summit area.
